Next May, a new listening experience arrives in Barcelona: FRISSON SESSIONS at Oblicuo.
An invitation to pause time and listen to music as it was meant to be heard: on vinyl, from start to finish, without distractions.
We open this first session with Somethin’ Else (1958), one of the absolute gems of the Blue Note catalog and one of the most elegant hard bop records. Recorded with Miles Davis, Hank Jones, Sam Jones, and Art Blakey, the album stands out for its warm, intimate, and deeply melodic sound, featuring a version of Autumn Leaves that has become a historic jazz reference.
A record where every note breathes, where silence is also part of the music, and which finds in Oblicuo’s Hi-Fi system the perfect setting to be rediscovered.
12/05/2026 - Cannonball Adderley "Somethin' Else"
A setting where design, gastronomy, and sound come together to revive the ritual of listening to a record from beginning to end, without interruptions, letting the music set the pace of the encounter.
On this occasion, the session will be dedicated to Kind of Blue by Miles Davis, widely regarded as one of the most influential albums in the history of jazz and a key work in the development of modal jazz.
Released in 1959 and recorded with an unmatched sextet —John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Bill Evans (except on Freddie Freeloader, where Wynton Kelly performs), Paul Chambers, and Jimmy Cobb—, Kind of Blue revolutionized the language of jazz through modal improvisation, harmonic simplicity, and an intimate, elegant atmosphere that continues to shape generations.
This album also connects directly with the first FRISSON session at Oblicuo, dedicated to Cannonball Adderley’s Somethin’ Else, creating a musical dialogue between two landmark works and two key moments in modern jazz.
A unique opportunity to rediscover one of the most important records ever made, under optimal listening conditions and in good company.

FRISSON SESSIONS continue at Oblicuo with one of the most influential voices in history.
In June, we will listen to Lady Soul (1968), one of Aretha Franklin’s most iconic albums and a cornerstone of modern soul. The record includes classics such as Chain of Fools, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, and (Sweet Sweet Baby), and remained at number one on the R&B charts for 16 weeks.
Recorded at a pivotal moment in African American music, Lady Soul blends gospel, soul, and rhythm & blues into a work that is emotionally intense, powerful, and deeply human.
Listening to this album in a listening bar like Oblicuo means discovering nuances, dynamics, and textures that often go unnoticed.

FRISSON SESSIONS close this cycle with a landmark work of 1970s soul and funk.
Superfly (1972) by Curtis Mayfield is much more than a soundtrack: it is a social, political, and musical portrait of post–civil rights America. With tracks like Freddie’s Dead, Pusherman, and Superfly, the album blends groove, social awareness, and sophisticated arrangements that defined an era.
A cinematic, immersive, and deeply atmospheric album, perfect to be experienced under optimal sound conditions.
